Support 3 Great Non-Profit Organizations!
On Saturday, June 1st, the South Amboy Branch YMCA is partnering with two charitable organizations, American DanceWheels Foundation and Cultural Arts Training Foundation to present "FITNESS FOR A CAUSE," a community event that will feature special classes for children and adults. The event will be held from 11am-4pm at the South Amboy Y.
A complete class schedule for the day can be found below or on the Y's website: ymcaofmewsa.org. Each class is $10, or a day pass to attend all classes is $35. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit each organization's charitable efforts.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
11:00 - 11:50 AM Latin Dance Class (Studio)
Come have some fun and learn how to Salsa dance with Latin and Ballroom Dance Champion, Aubree Marchione. You can bring a partner or come by yourself.
11:00 - 11:30 AM Aqua Zumba (Pool)
Everyone's favorite group exercise class in the pool!
11:50 - 12:00 PM Cross Fit (Gymnasium)
This short strength and conditioning program is constantly varied, high intensity, demanding all-out physical exertion!
11:00 - 11:45 AM Tabata (Gymnasium)
This is a high intensity interval class. Tabata is done in 4 minutes alternating between 20 seconds of high intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest. Come ready to work, you haven't experienced anything like this before!
12:00 - 12:50 PM Adult Self Defense (Gymnasium)This course is designed for adults with and without disabilities. It teaches simple effective movements that blend with an individual's natural body mechanics.
12:50 - 1:00 PM Cross Fit (Gymnasium)
1:00 - 1:50 PM Wheelchair Ballroom Dancing (Studio)
Come have some fun and learn how to Wheelchair Latin and Ballroom Dance with champion dancer and choreographer, Aubree Marchione. Her credits include wheelchair choreography for the feature film, Musical Chairs, and a flash mob dance for Sundance Channel's popular TV series, Push Girls!
1:50 - 2:00 PM Cross Fit (Gymnasium)
2:00 - 2:50 PM Child Empowerment Class (Youth Room)
This course teaches children how to avoid and deal with confrontations through verbal de-escalation, realistic self defense, and team mediation. Ages 8+
2:50 - 3:00 PM Cross Fit (Gymnasium)
3:00 - 3:50 PM Kids Zumba Class (Gymnasium)
Everyone's favorite class is available for kids too! They will learn the steps, get a great workout, and have fun! Ages 6+
3:00 - 3:50 PM SAFE Program for Women (Youth Room)
This course is designed to teach women with and without disabilities how to defend themselves in different situations. Covered topics will include situational awareness, assault prevention, and domestic violence.
3:50 - 4:00 PM Cross Fit (Gymnasium)
