Middlesex County Freeholder Director, Ronald Rios, will be joined by Freeholder Charles Kenny, and Freeholder Charles Tomaro, Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, State Transportation Officials, disability advocates, officials from the NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and residents of Woodbridge, Fords, and Edison, for a ceremony marking the recent installation of 12 audio crosswalk signals at intersections along Amboy Ave. in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township. Staff and volunteers from the Alliance Center for Independence will also be present.
The ceremony will take place at 10 am at the corner of Amboy Ave. and Ford Ave. (across from the 7-11) in Fords (Woodbridge Township).
“These audio crosswalk signals will make crossing busy Amboy Avenue safer for people with disabilities, especially those who are visually impaired,” says Argenys Caba. Mr. Caba, an office assistant at the Alliance Center for Independence, began advocating for the audio crosswalk signals almost 3 years ago. His efforts included speaking before the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders in February 2015. “I am happy that our long efforts have finally paid off.”
The ceremony will include speeches by Freeholder Director Rio and other dignitaries and a demonstration of the new signals.

Many pedestrians in the area will benefit.”
Following the ceremony, ACI will hold a reception at their office at 629 Amboy Avenue, Edison, NJ (located 1 block from the ribbon cutting ceremony). All are invited.
