NJ's Disability Community Rallies Against Proposed Medicaid Cuts

On March 6th, more than 400 people throughout NJ participated in a rally to protest a proposal to cut $800 Medicaid spending over 10 years. The event, organized by the Alliance Center for Independence and Protect Medicaid Coalition, took place at the NJ State House Annex in Trenton. The Protect Medicaid Coalition is made up of over 40 disability organizations, Centers for Independent Living, individual advocates, non-profit organizations, and disability allies.

According to KFF, over 1.9 million in NJ receive Medicaid; 80 million throughout the US. Overall, 17% of Medicaid enrollees are people with disabilities and seniors.

ACI would like to thank all the organizations and individuals that comprised the Protect Medicaid Coalition. Thank you for making the Protect Medicaid Rally the success that it was! Thank you to the American Association of Persons with Disabilities (AAPD) and the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities (NJCDD) for their generous support! Thank you also to all the speakers!
