Salary: $35,000 annual
Pay: $19.25 per hour

General Job Description
The Alliance Center for Independence, a leading grass-roots disability organization in Central Jersey, is currently seeking an Information and Referral Specialist/Social Recreation Coordinator who is enthusiastic, passionate and creative in assisting people with disabilities reach their employment and independent living goals.

Responsibilities

  • Information & Referral: Responding to requests for information on disability related issues; assisting with application for entitlement programs, and providing referrals to other organizations

  • Social Recreation: Organizing fun and creative group activities

  • Peer Support: Facilitating monthly peer support groups

Required Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and hard-working with a good sense of humor

  • Excellent documentation, organization, and writing skills

  • Experience with using Google Drive

  • Experience with social media is a plus

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines

  • Independent-minded, but also comfortable working with a team

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities

  • College degree preferred, but will consider someone with appropriate experience

  • Traveling within Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties is required

  • Candidates will be subject to drug testing as well as a background/fingerprint check

  • Minimum of 21 years of age

  • Successfully complete DDD-mandated staff training & professional development training

  • Able to complete CPR and first-aid certifications

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including one on one instruction

  • Available to work nights or weekends on occasion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Persons with a disability are encouraged to apply

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
