The Alliance Center for Independence in Edison, NJ is hiring!
We are currently seeking a part-time instructor (with potential for full-time), who is enthusiastic about assisting people with disabilities, including students with disabilities, in being independent and reaching their employment and independent living goals.
Job Type: Part-time (with potential for full-time)
Pay: $16.50 per hour. 3 days per week.
Responsibilities: Developing and implementing group/individualized pre-employment based lesson plans, writing reports, communicating with vocational rehab counselors, support coordinators, school staff, ACI staff, local businesses and family/caregivers. You will be working with high-school-age students as well as adults.
Required Certifications/Qualifications:
Enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and hard-working with a good sense of humor
Comfortable with remote technology such as Zoom and Google Meet
Excellent documentation, organization, and writing skills
Experience with using Google Drive
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
Independent-minded, but also comfortable working with a team
Strong verbal communication skills - Able to teach and explain new concepts and information in a classroom setting
Experience working with individuals with disabled individuals
College degree preferred but will consider someone with appropriate experience
Some traveling within Middlesex, Somerset and Union is required
Candidates will be subject to drug testing as well as a background/fingerprint check
Minimum of 21 years of age
Successfully complete DDD-mandated staff training & professional development training
Able to complete CPR and first-aid certifications
Perform other duties as assigned, including one on one instruction
