As part of a nation-wide Day of Mourning, ACI, along with disability advocates, will be holding a vigil to honor the lives of disabled people murdered by families and caretakers. The vigil will address violence against people with disabilities and speak out against cultural prejudices and send the message that disability is not a justification for violence. Our lives are worth living!
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Not Dead Yet and the National Council on Independent Living held the first Day of Mourning in 2012. This is a national event with cities around the country participating.
Join us for light snacks and hot chocolate in the ACI office after the vigil.
