Presented by Hinkle, Prior & Fischer, P.C.
Under federal law, students as young as age 14 are entitled to IEP goals that focus on the skills that they will need to transition from school to independent living, employment, further education, or whatever else is appropriate for the student. Many IEPs are formulated with no attention paid to what skills the student will need to be successful when his or her school entitlement ends. Additionally, all students with disabilities are entitled to receive special education and related services until the end of the school year in which they turn 21. All too often school districts attempt to graduate students before age 21, without the skills necessary to succeed outside of the school environment.
This Zoom workshop focuses on how to ensure your student’s transition planning is given a priority and your student is not graduated prematurely. This 90-minute presentation includes a Q&A for attendees.
