A Matter of Balance

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.

This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls.

You will learn to:

  • View falls as controllable

  • Set goals for increasing activity

  • Make changes to reduce fall risks at home

  • Exercise to increase strength and balance

Who should attend?

  • Anyone concerned about falls

  • Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength

  • Anyone who has fallen in the past

  • Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns

Free home safety checks for all participants!!!

Women's Peer Support Group

📆 First Thursday of Every Month
⌚ 3:00 to 6:00 PM

Join us for our next meeting of our NEW monthly Women’s Peer Support Group on the first Thursday of every month at ACI!

Facilitated by Tia Washington, ACI Employment Specialist, our Women's Peer Support Group gives ladies the opportunity to interact with their peers, ask questions, and further seek information for areas in their lives they would like to improve and/or learn about. The purpose of the group is to provide a place where they feel they can fit in, express themselves, and feel safe.

Topics include social skills, making friends, hygiene, cooking, and other living skills.

Light refreshments will be served.

This group is for women with disabilities.

Talk and Walk Peer Group

⌚ 10:30 to 11:30 AM

Join your friends at ACI for our Talk and Walk Peer Group! We will be holding these peer group meetings during a leisurely walk on the accessible Greenway Path, located 2 blocks from our office. This is an opportunity to get out of our Zoom boxes and enjoy the outdoors while learning, laughing and sharing!

Please bring water/drink and wear sneakers/comfortable shoes and comfortable warm temperature clothing. Feel free to bring your own sunscreen and/or hat.

Limited to 8 participants.

ACI Parent Support Group

📆 Fourth Tuesday of Every Month
⌚ 5:30 to 7:30 PM
📌 ACI, 629 Amboy Ave, Edison, NJ

When like-minded people come together to share their thoughts, concerns and experiences, there is a sense of community. ACI is inviting parents and loved ones of adults with disabilities (ages 18+) to join us on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Feel free to bring something to share!

Registration is required. Limited to 18 participants. Masks are optional.
